Writer and director of K-Pop: Demon Hunters, Maggie Kang, has spoken about how her characters break and subvert stereotypes.

Speaking on a recent panel hosted by the Geena Davis Institute, she said that in creating her three lead characters, she aimed to make them feel as real as possible - wanting them to be “a little silly, or a lot silly, to eat plenty, get potbellies, and be allowed to look ugly”.

Since its release in June, K-Pop: Demon Hunters has risen to become Netflix’s fourth most popular English-language film of all time.
