Between the highly anticipated third season of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty and the unexpected cultural phenomenon that was Crave’s Heated Rivalry, book-to-screen adaptations have been dominating our feeds, brains, and hearts majorly in 2025.
And judging by the multitude of movies and TV shows based on books coming this next year, this heat isn’t going away any time soon. The range of adaptations is ever-present; from childhood favourites, to beloved rom-coms, and even MORE hockey smut, it is safe to say that we will all be throughly entertained this year.
To be in the know about which books adaptations are slated to be released this year, keep reading!

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Suzanne Collins has a very acute ability to distill the current issues in our socio political climate in an entertaining and frightening dystopian novel. And yet, I will be seated for every single book and film, and Sunrise on the Reaping is no different.
Bonus points to them for casting an actor with Aboriginal heritage, Joseph Zada, in the role of Haymitch – especially given the racial coding of Indigeneity within District 12 in the books.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2026.

Off Campus by Elle Kennedy
The Off Campus series are the OG ice hockey smut books, and without the work of Elle Kennedy, we would likely not have Shane and Ilya of Heated Rivalry.
It is commonly believed that the series will work similar to Bridgerton, with each season focussing on the love story of a different member of the Briar University ice hockey team.
The series doesn’t shy away from exploring serious issues, and I’m curious as to how the show will depict Hannah’s PTSD after being sexually assaulted. Plus, the infamous scene where Allie gets Hannah to call Dean (iykyk).
Off Campus is expected to be released on Prime Video in 2026.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
I have six words for you;
Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood.
Sense and Sensibility is set for release on September 11, 2026.

People We Meet on Vacation
by Emily Henry
Oh Emily Henry, you are so loved.
People We Meet on Vacation is the ultimate friends-to-lovers rom-com that gives you such an intense feeling of wanderlust and whimsy.
Poppy Wright is Emily Henry‘s best protagonist, and that is a fact, and Emily Bader is absolutely transcendent in this role.
People We Meet on Vacation is scheduled to be released on Netflix on January 9, 2026.

Every Year After by Carley Fortune
Every Summer After is the quintessential summer book, and I mean that in the most loving and warm way. I still remember the January day where I did nothing but cook, clean, and dwell by the pool while listening to it, utterly transfixed. And my love for Carley Fortune’s writing has only grown since reading One Golden Summer this past year, no less than nine times (not kidding).
The series adaptation seems to be the perfect The Summer I Turned Pretty summer substitute.
The book chronicles the progression of childhood friends Percy and Sam’s relationship over two decades, with the dreamy and idealistic Barry’s Bay as the setting.
I for one am a sucker for yellow banana boats, and dual timeline love stories.
Every Year After is expected to be released on Prime Video in 2026.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
To be honest, I am mostly excited for this to come out so we can all roast it for whitewashing Heathcliff (for more information please watch this fantastic video essay).
Wuthering Heights is set for release February 12, 2026.

The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton
Enid Blyton really is the it-girl of the children’s book world, and I for one cannot wait to be transported by a magic tree to a whimsical and fantastical land.
The Faraway Tree is set for release March 27, 2026

Heartstopper Forever by Alice Oseman
In lieu of a forth and final season of Heartstopper, they instead are making a feature film to wrap up the stories of Charlie, Nick and the gang.
The basis of the film is allegedly going to be surrounding the now-unreleased Heartstopper Volume 6, and the novella Nick and Charlie.
Heartstopper Forever is expected to be released on Netflix in 2026.

Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
Our favourite regency Gossip Girl rom-com is coming back in January, and we are simply not worthy.
The fourth season is focussing on Benedict Bridgerton’s love story with Australian Yerin Ha’s Sophie, which is heavvvillyyyyyy inspired by the classic tale of Cinderella.
Bridgerton is scheduled to be released on Netflix on January 29, 2026.

His and Hers by Alice Feeney
Tessa Thompson. A small town murder mystery. Unreliable narrators.
You know what I’ll be watching on January 8th.
His and Hers is scheduled to be released on Netflix on January 8, 2026.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe
Let me get this straight; A Hooters waitress and a former professional wrester have a child. That child gets knocked up by her college english professor and she has to turn to Only Fans to support herself?
In an industry of endless copies and comparisons, this is a wholly original concept that I am endlessly excited to see.
Also, the cast is stacked with Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, Thaddea Graham, and Michael Workéyè.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles is set to premiere on Apple TV on April 15, 2026.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
The concept of a romance novel surrounding a couple who have gotten cold feet trying to goad one another into cancelling the wedding is just *chefs kiss*.
As much as I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I just know that Penn Badgley and Meghan Fahy are going to match each other’s freak in these roles impeccably well.
You Deserve Each Other is set to premiere in 2026.
