Our most anticipated TV shows of 2026

We here at Missing Perspectives are ALL about a good television show hyper fixation, so we have curated a list of the most anticipated TV shows for 2026. From new releases to prequels of existing properties and returning seasons, here are all the best TV shows to keep on your radar in 2026.

Happy watching, friends!

Bridgerton: Season 4

Everyone’s favourite historically inaccurate story is gracing our screens again in 2026, and we could not be more excited if we tried.

An Aussie lead in Yerin Ha? *tick*

Iconic bisexual Benedict getting his own season? *tick*

Cinderella-esque story? *tick*

January can not come soon enough!

Bridgerton Season 4 is airing in two parts on Netflix, with Part 1 arriving January 29 and Part 2 on February 26.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale

The very notion that we are returning to Sunnydale in 2026 does not quite compute to me, despite being well aware of this Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot for a long while.

With Chloé Zhao, the Zuckerman sisters, Sarah Michelle Gellar & Dolly Parton all working behind the scenes, I am weirdly certain this will be a faithful and good continuation of the Buffy-verse.

Additionally, doesn’t it just make you smile knowing that Joss Whedon has no involvement and he is likely crying in a corner somewhere?

Ahhhh, happy thoughts!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale is expected to air in 2026 on Hulu

Heartbreak High: Season 3

In the three years Heartbreak High has been airing, it has cemented its place in the Australian television hall of fame.

Through its memorable characters, progressive messaging, and iconic line deliveries, the final season of Heartbreak High will leave a gaping hole in Australian television that will be hard to fill.

I, for one, am already mourning saying goodbye to one of the few asexual characters ever depicted on-screen, my asexual eshay bb, Ca$h. And I know many folk from other marginalised backgrounds are heartbroken to be saying goodbye to the characters that profoundly impacted their lives.

Heartbreak High is expected to air in 2026 on Netflix

Industry: Season 4

Who knew that the world of finance could be this interesting? The show centres around a group of young graduates competing for limited permanent positions at the top London investment bank, Pierpoint & Co.

The show is a fantastic exploration of corruption, money, sex, and ethics.

Industry Season 4 will air weekly from January 11, 2026

School Spirits: Season 3

This might be one of the most criminally underrated shows currently airing. The show follows Maddie, a teenage girl stuck in the afterlife at her high school, who is investigating the mystery of her own disappearance.

This show has everything! Mystery, intrigue, a cast with fantastic chemistry, what more could you ask for?

School Spirits Season 3 premieres on Paramount+ on January 28

Off Campus

If Heated Rivalry has started the craze of hockey smut book-to-screen adaptations, then Off Campus, based on a book series of the same name by Elle Kennedy, is the second coming.

The show follows the adventures of a group of elite college hockey players, and their love lives, with each book (and season, I assume) focusing on a different group member. It is lowkey giving Bridgerton, but make it hockey smut?

Off Campus is expected to air on Prime Video in 2026

Euphoria: Season 3

If nothing else, season three of Euphoria promises to be amusing.

Euphoria is expected to air in April 2026 on HBO Max

Hacks: Season 5

Our favourite co-dependent messy duo is back for a fifth and likely final season.

Hacks tells the story of a washed-up comedian, Deborah Vance, and her Gen Z writing partner, Ava Daniels, portrayed expertly by Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, respectively.

It is one of the funniest shows to air in a long while, and I cannot recommend it more highly, especially seeing as Mr Connie Baby (Christopher Briney) will be in the fifth season.

Hacks is expected to air in 2026 on Stan

Elle

Elle Woods, Woods, comma Elle, is getting her very own prequel series, aptly titled Elle!

The show is going to chronicle the life of one of cinema’s most iconic blondes as she goes through high school, before her days at Harvard!

I am mostly excited for this one to see how the Y2K fashion holds up, especially after seeing the interesting looks donned by Elle’s gaggle of girlies that were papped back in April.

Elle is expected to air in mid-2026 on Prime Video

Yellowjackets: Season 4

While there is no confirmation, it is expected that our favourite lesbian soccer-playing cannibals will be back on our screens at the end of 2026, and I am already sat and ready to devour this season.

The last season left on such an immense cliffhanger with Natalie *spoilers* finally making contact with the outside world, and taking the first step towards their imminent rescue.

Given this is the fourth and final season, I am keenly excited to get the answers to the questions I have been waiting years for: What does the symbol mean? Is it supernatural? Were Jackie and Shauna more than just friends?

Yellowjackets is expected to premiere on Prime Video in late 2026.

Rivals: Season 2

If we are all allowed a problematic fave TV show, then this is mine!

Rivals centres on a group of upper-class folk in 1980s England, and is a stupidly engaging commentary on hedonism, classism, excess, and gender roles.

Rivals is expected to air in 2026 on Disney+

The Pitt: Season 2

I hate to admit that before I watched this show, I referred to it as “Grey’s Anatomy for boring people”.

But this opinion cannot be further from the truth, as I am now a staunch Pitt stan, and am patiently awaiting January 8th to come so I can be back at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre.

The Pitt is airing weekly from January 8th on HBO Max

The Beauty

This might be one of the most stacked casts I have ever seen for a show that I am sure will be terrible (especially knowing Ryan Murphy’s track record).

But I will give it a try for Jaquel Spivey, Lux Pascal, and Peter Gallagher.

The Beauty is airing from January 21st on Disney+

Heated Rivalry: Season 2

Okay, this is me manifesting that we see Ilya and Shane back on our screens as soon as humanly possible!

Heated Rivalry BETTER air in 2026 or else Allie will cry xo.
